History
- Sometime around the year 0, The Demon Sparda betrayed his partner Mundus and raised his sword to fight for humans.
- The next 1000 years Sparda fights to protect humans, and helps rule over the humans from the shadows and keep the demons at bay while the Tenmen-Ni-Gru was being constructed.
- Sparda mets a mortal woman named Eva who captured the demons heart. His first true love.
- Sparda and Eva are married around the year 1000, the next year she gives birth to twins who she names Vergil and Dante.
*(Vergilius & Durante Not offically stated but both names were orginally longer in the older days. So it is likely these were their birth names.)
* Born in
Pavia, Italy in 1005
- Vergil and Dante grew up happy and close to both parents. in the
High Middle Age. Sparda would leave often to go off and battle to protect his family from Mundas and the demons.
- Education was no longer as important after the fall of the roman empire, but at his request Vergil starts attending a nearby Catherdal with other boys of class. Dante saw no point and wanted to always be home or out playing.
- Just before the boys turned 8, Sparda leaves his family for good. Leaving both boys one of his swords each, Rebellion to Dante, and Yamato to Vergil. The swords returned to Eva after Sparda sealed the demon woman along with himself to protect the humans.
* When Sparda went to leave Vergil ran out after his father, clinging to his leg sobbing for him not to leave. Sparda kneeled and placed a hand on Vergil's head and told him it was now his job to protect the family as the oldest, that he has the power he just has to grow and beleive in himself. These words haunted Vergil for years.
- just after their 8th Birthday while Vergil was out at school just really adjusting to the fact his father was dead, he came home to the house torn apart, parts of his mother laid all around, she had been shreaded apart by the demons who attacked while he was out. He had no idea that Eva had hidden Dante to save him. He grabbed Yamato down and ran off, abbandoning his life to go seek vengance.
- Vergil went to the local lord announcing himself as Sparda's only son demanding to be trained, having the same eyes and hair as his father the boy was no questioned and was trained in the old roman ways of battle to start.
- Vergil "awoke" at the age of 19, from that point no weapons had any real effect on him as long as he was not tired. If he was tired ir feeling wore down the could take him down a day or two at most. He started to grow tired of the people he was training under and set off on his own.
- Going to Denmark he offered his service to King Canute the Great of Demark. Marching with his troops until Canute's death. These were the years he learned the most about warfare and furthered his education as the troops moved.
* While moving with the troops he realized that as he didn't age if he ever left this army he would need to either change his name or get stronger to keep himself alive.
-After Canute's death he left the army and sailed looking for another war, he did this non-stop for the next 200 years. Mostly fighting with the English in the Crusades to keep himself sharp and to take out any demons along the way.
-1215 Vergil takes his first wife, *Esther, the daughter of one of the noblemen he had been staying with. The marriage was arranged by the man himself. For the next 15 years he stays with her, but never truely lets himself love the woman. She died of a fever and Vergil went back to the Cursades.
- 1320; Vergil comes across Dante in a small town and is so horrified that his twin is not only alive but fighting and living with a rough and tumble group that he denies ever having seen him, but all of Dantes friends mysteriously died before the "unknown Solider" vanished, he never let Dante see his face.
- 1500's Vergil starts to fall in love with art and litaure, though he has no artistic talents of his own he returned to Italy through most of this century watching as the greats of their time.
*Guns come into popularity.
- After 1640 Vergil traveled to Japan, finding out Yamato in the style of a Japanese blade, it is in this time he learns the
Iaido style that will evenatully be motified into his signature
Dark Slayer Style.
- He returned to Europe after the 1700's hit, again simply going from war to war. When he could not find a battle that suited him, he would simply go on long adventures to keep himself occupied, killing any demons along the way.
- 1770, Vergil marries a second time, this time to a French noblewoman. He mostly wanted her money, but her father arranged it becuase of Vergil's reputation in battle. He actually liked Maria, she was educated and didn't annoy him. While he was out fighting in the French Revolution she was beheaded, he burned their house and never returned to France again.
-1800 - He finally crosses paths with Dante again when he goes across the sea to the new world. It was completely by accident. The both happened to be on the same stage coach. It was a very awkward ride. Both boys had to stay civil least they have to walk. They spoke awhile before Vergil got off at the first stop telling Dante he would see him around. But had no intention, he had too much left to do.
-1900's (aka shit gets real) Warfare evoles to mostly guns, Vergil is disgusted with it and stops fighting, returning to his love of knowlege when he is not eraticating demon scum.
-sometime past 1980; Vergil catches word of his brother again through a network of mercenaries, finding out Dante is now going by the name Tony Redgrave. This pisses Vergil off and he decides to go visit his brother as 'Gilver'
(NOVEL BREAK DOWN HERE)
-After vanishing to heal his wounds, Vergil goes to Fortuna Island, a place he had gone through a few times incogneto. A island full of people who worshipped Sparda. He spends his time on the island more or less fucking around with the elders minds. Such as telling them "I do not mind you worshiping my father as a god, but what will you do when his son suprasses him?"
* While on Fortuna Island, he knocked up a prositute who died in childbirth with Nero. The child was brought to Vergil, who spent the next six months wrapped around the boys fingers.
* After an attack on himself and baby Nero, Vergil went to find Dante but came to the choice that his brother would not be any help and ended up putting a spell on the baby to keep him from being found by the demons, finding understanding why Sparda ababndoned them, he left Nero on the door of an orphanage on Fortuna Island, figuring an island of Sparda Worshipers would take proper care of his son. He planned to get more power and return to claim his child.
- Vergil crosses paths with Arkham, who tricks Vergil into thinking he can get Sparda's power if he helped him open the Tenmen-Ni-Gru, the building Sparda had used to seal off the demon world. Vergil stupidly follows along.
-While living with Arkham and 'Alice' he spends a lot of time reading books of dead demon tales which he ahd trouble translating, he was also a major asshole to Alice, big shock.
- The last thing needed to awaken the Tenmen-Ni-Gru was Dante's half of the Perfect Amulet, so Vergil sent Arkham to collect Dante with an 'invitation' to come to him. While Vergil stood on the tower as it erupted from under the middle of the city.... likely killing thousands... opps?
- Dante and Vergil fight, shit gets real. The boys eventually realize that Arkham is Jester, and that they are both idiots, Vergil for listening adn being used, Dante for even being there.
- Hell opens, Vergil and Dante both cross over to kick Arkham's ass. Working together for the first time in... forever. When the boys decide something needs to die, its dead. They defeat Arkham, and Vergil tries to steal the sword and Dante's amulet anyway, since he feels the power is rightfully his.
- Vergil is defeated, He urges Dante to leave, as this is the demon world and Dante belongs with humans while he entends to stay. Dante tries to catch him when he stumbles back to a cliffs edge, he slices Dante's hand with Yamato and falls into pitch black with his twin watching him fall.
-Landing in the Demon world, Vergil sees three bright lights, realizing it is Mundas, despite being weaked he decides if their father could defeat Mundas, so can he and charges at the lights.
- Vergil lost, and he was placed into a suit of armor that kept his memories sealed and him completely at Mundas' will. He had the power he wanted but no will to use it. His name was shed, and from then on he used Nelo Angelo.
-.... years later.
- Dante comes to Mallet Island, where he encounters one of Mundas' servants a 'Dark Knight' who does not speak but seems to have honor as he would not stab Dante in the back, the two faught three times before the knight removed his helmet. Reveling his pale face. It was Vergil. Dante did not realize it yet.
-After defeating/killing the knight, the Perfect Amulet falls, with Vergil's name engraved on the back, and Dante realizes what has just happened.
-Vergil Sparda appears on the Barge, looking like Nelo Angelo, but uses part of his demon power to keep himself looking like he did before his fall. It makes him a little weaker but he hates seeing what Mundas did to him.
